Nestled in the lower Hudson Valley, Sweet Clover Farm is where hospitality and craftsmanship come together. At the heart of the property stands a restored barn from the 1800s, which is home to our working distillery and tasting room - opening soon. The Tasting Room at Sweet Clover Farm will invite visitors to savor the flavors of New York, offering a selection of craft spirits and signature cocktails, as well as locally brewed beer, cider, and wine, all reflecting the region's bounty.
Just steps away is The Burr House - a stately 1800s colonial lovingly restored with care and reverance for its history. Every board and beam tells a story of enduring craft, now complemented by modern comfort and elegance.
In an area rich with history, this property holds particular significance as the original owner was Aaron Burr, who purchased the land for his beloved daughter, Theodosia Burr Halston. Sadly, Theodosia never had the opportunity to build a home and live on the property as planned. In 1812, she left the port of Georgetown, South Carolina on the schooner Patriot and was never seen again. Throughout the 19th century, newspapers titillated readers with lurid stories of her alleged fate, including captivity, murder, and deathbed confessions of former pirates. Yet her tragic disappearance has remained a mystery for over two hundred years.
